Ahhhhh

We got all the wood laminate down last night! YAY! And let me tell you, I love it and it looks amazing. No more nasty dirty who-knows-what-has-happened-on-this-carpet carpet. And, we found a few surprises along the way:)

Here I am in all my glory before tearing up the carpet, I even have heavy duty work gloves on!
See! I told you!! Nasty nasty nasty!
Aaaaaand, heres the surprise. Who ever thought they were handy and smart who lived in this house before (who knows how long before) built a wall....on top of the carpet. WHO DOES THAT?!

We were stuck on what we should do about it. We tried a utility knife to trim it down but that didnt work, we tried pulling it out but thats kinda hard with a wall sitting on top of it. We were afraid we were going to have to tear the wall out, get the carpet out of the way, then build the wall again (probably way better:)
But, with my brains and Bret's manly manlyness, we figured it out. He just cut the studs (the wall wasnt even dry walled in the back), pulled out the bottom stud, and pulled out the carpet, then put it all back together.
I know, crazy.
Here is a shot of it about 1/4 way done. I love the kitchen, it was very cozy for a few days.
Oh yeah, I can use a chop saw. With no fear even.

And here it is.
So pretty. So clean. So much less maintenance. So much less nasty carpet.
(My camera has something wrong with it, there are all these little spots!)
And with the couch and love seat.
Im so glad this project is done. My knees are killing me (even with the knee pads) and the rest of my body is sore. Apparently, putting in laminate flooring is a good workout.

So, next is all the molding. WOOHOO! Im so excited for this to get done. Its going to finally look finished. And I really love molding so Im excited about it anyway.

And maybe, just maybe, I can start putting stuff on the walls:)

Wow, it looks great. You both are so talented. Lots of work, which wall was the problem one? Hey we taught our daughter how to use tools (maybe not a chop saw) and be an independent woman. See it all became useful!!

So cool to see what you've done. Are you going to put laminate throughout the house? Bedrooms too?

Um, you are kind of amazing. I'm making sure Hunter doesn't read this because he thinks it's pretty awesome I know how to do laundry.

Oh, and big ups on looking super hot with a face mask and working a chop saw.
