Our Jacks

We bought a pumpkin big and round
that lived the summer through
without an eye to look at things...
and now it looks through two.

It used to be all dark inside
when growing on the vine,
but now it has a toothy smile
and face that's full of shine.

Last Saturday night Nolan and Susan came over and we carved pumpkins. We do it with them every year (2009, 2008), which makes it all the more fun.

Caylee was eager to help Susan start carving.

Braelyn doesnt like the gooey stuff.

Alaina doesnt seem to mind though.
They both did a great job at getting the insides clean.

Braelyn had Daddy help her carve hers, but she thought it needed an extra something.

Alaina chose for hers to be a princess pumpkin (surprise surprise).
So I carved a crown and a mouth and Bret drilled her eyes and nose. I added cute little eye lashes to the eyes.
It turned out pretty cute.

Here they are in all their glowing glory.

Bret's

Braelyn's

Alaina's

Nolan's

Susan's

Jamie's

The Monday after we carved the pumpkins we found Bret's and Braelyn's starting to mold and leak. We threw them away and took the other two outside.

A couple days after that my pumpkin looked like a murder scene.

Its okay, its carving them that is so much fun.
