Reminders

I have a little flock of sheep and they are mine to tend and keep.
And I must guard them every day, for little lambs, when left alone, will lose their way.

So many voices say to me, "A sheep fold is no place to be. Your time in there is dull and slow and lambs leave very little room for you to grow."

Oh, if I ever start to stray, deceived by thoughts of green pastures, remind me Lord that keeping sheep will lead to happier ever afters....will lead to happier ever afters.

Surely there will come a day when all the lambs have left my side. And I am free to roam about and go exploring other meadows green and wide.

Yet something whispers in my heart, that when my sheep have left this pen, I'll long to stroke their little heads, to draw them close to me and have them young again.

So if I ever start to stray, deceived by thoughts of green pastures, remind me Lord that keeping sheep will lead to happier ever afters....will lead to happier ever afters.

So while they are in my care, I pray that I will clearly see...these little lambs within my fold are tender gifts that Master Shepard has given me.

I often get busy and distracted.
Distracted by the house and all that needs to be done. Distracted with crafts I want to do. Distracted by books I want to read. Distracted by laundry, dishes, dinners, errands and housework.
I sometime think these things are more important than they actually are.

Im grateful for gentle reminders, like a song playing in the background, to help me be the mom I need to be for these little spirits that were entrusted to me.

I love my girls so much.
And even when they are all crying at the same time and when they are needy and whiny and wont clean up or listen or when they are fighting and yelling at each other, I know, that when they are grown up and gone, living their lives...
I will miss them dearly.

Elder Wirthlin said, "One thing I know for certain: the time we have here goes by far too quickly. Don’t waste any more time sitting on the bench watching life pass you by."

Or pushing my kids aside while I finish up a sewing project. Or not getting down on my knees to give a comforting hug. Or ignore the request, "Mommy will you play with me?"

Elder Ballard said, "The most formative time of all, the early years in a child life, represents less than one-tenth of a parent's normal life. It is crucial to focus on our children for the short time we have them with us and seek, with the help of the Lord, to teach them all we can before they leave our homes."

Its my prayer that I can enjoy the journey.

Amen, nothing greater than your children - realized that too late for my own - I miss their childhood - I hope to do better with my grandchildren.

Thanks! that is a good reminder to all of us. I think we all get busy and distracted as mom's.
