The Tub

We put a new tub in our bathroom a couple weeks ago. It was messy.

Here is the "before" shower and tub.

Not so pretty!
It took a good three weeks after moving in before Alaina would take a shower without crying about it.

In order to get the pink, chipped old tub out, Bret had to take the first layer of tile off the wall. Since the tiles are huge in this bathroom, it left a mark.
Then we noticed that the people who redid the bathroom before put the wrong kind of drywall behind the tile, and it was rotted and moldy. I totally knew it would be. It just been that way with this house!

Bret and Nolan had to cut the old tub in half to get it out. They totally enjoyed it.

It wasnt coming out so easily, they had to kinda wrestle with it.

Success!

Not too red neck eh:)
I told Bret we should just leave them there with a "free" sign on them. He said no one would take two halves of an old bathtub.
We put the two halves in the new tub box by the garbage can which we keep in the top of the driveway in front of the car. They were gone the next morning.

So without the tub, there was a gross mess to clean up....

with snow shovels and...

rakes!

It was a trial, with some destruction to the walls in the bathroom, but they got the new shiny pretty white tub in.

Then Bret replaced the drywall with good stuff and started to retile the shower.
Because the tile issue wasnt forseen and wasnt budgeted, we had to get creative with the bottom third of the shower tile that was ripped out.

It turned out ok:)

It took two weeks from the time we took the old tub out to the time the grout was sealed and ready to use. Let me just say, taking baths for relaxation is great, but when you have to do it everyday to get clean, its not so fun anymore!!

Good job Bret, youre amazing:)
