Mouse Story

A week or so ago we noticed mouse droppings in our cupboards and drawers. I called our landlord and he said he would bring over some traps. He never did. Sunday night we heard the little buggers in the walls. Yesterday we found a ton more droppings, even in our silverware drawer. Yuck. I got out of the bathroom after taking a shower yesterday and Braelyn was leaning over my scrapbook bag in the hall and growling very fiercely. I thought it odd that she would be so angry with my scrapbooking bag, so I leaned over to take a look behind it. There it was, the little mouse, cowering and shivering for its life on account of the two year old. I got a mason jar and tried to trap it but it ran into the hall closet with the furnace in it. I opened the door in time to see it disappear into the wall. We went out immediately and bought some traps. When we got home, I went to put the traps out when I saw it again!! Sitting in the middle of my living room! So I got the afore mentioned mason jar and just walked right up to it and trapped it. Little bugger. The girls were pretty excited that we got a "pet" and Braelyn liked to carry it around for a while. When I saw her shaking the thing, I took it away. I took a good look at him and the little guy just didnt look good, so i had pity and gave him some rice krispies and water...then put him back in the closet. When Bret got home and the girls showed him our little friend, then they all went out to the hills and let him go. Bret wrote a fabulous story to go with this, but I dont know if he would want me to post it on or blog, but it was hilarious.

I cleaned the entire kitchen last night. I washed all the drawers, cupboards and such. I wanted it to be clean so I could know for sure if our little friend had any family. I woke up this morning and checked our silverware drawer...and there were little chocolate treats waiting. Im calling the landlord again today...and he WILL bring over some traps.

We wont be so kind this time:)

Alaina named him "Mousey". I know, very original.

that is really gross. Get the sticky traps they work really well and all you have to do after the monster is trapped pick up the trap and throw it in the garbage out side. no mess no mice.

Sick! I was hoping for some pictures after Bret's e-mail to Rand :) That's hilarious - I can't believe Braelyn growled at it and that you were brave enough to put it in a jar. I hate mice!
